BARSTOW - Three men are in custody in connection to two unrelated rapes.

Arturo Franco, 19, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of rape. In a separate incident, Gursameep Singh, 30, and Jeffery Knott, 32, were arrested for suspicion of rape and identity theft on Friday, a Barstow police report stated.

According to the report, Barstow Police Officer Catherine Greig arrested Franco after his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend reported that he had raped her on Saturday afternoon. The woman told the officer that Franco, who she lives with, became angry with her and raped her in their apartment on Wilshire Place, the report stated. Greig later found Franco at the apartment and arrested him.

The day before, Friday, Greig responded to a call from the outlet malls, where a 20-year-old woman reported that she was raped, a police report stated. The woman told Greig that two friends and another man came to Barstow to pick her up and give her a ride to Bakersfield. The four stayed at a hotel in the Lenwood area on Thursday night and Singh and Knott raped her, the report stated.

Police located Singh and during the arrest found several different IDs in his wallet. He was arrested for suspicion of rape and identity theft and booked into the Barstow jail. Later, three people came to the police station to pick up the woman. Police found one, Knott, to be a parolee at large from Bakersfield and arrested him on suspicion of rape as well, the report stated.

Immigration officials also asked the Barstow police department to place an immigration hold on Singh. Sgt. Andy Espinoza Sr. said the hold does not necessarily mean that Singh is in the country illegally. The hold allows Immigration and Customs Enforcement to investigate possible warrants against Singh.
