BARSTOW - The search for a man wanted in connection to a copper wire heist from a local business ended with three in custody on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies Jeff Toll and Damon Ward arrested Kenneth Piles, 43, after serving a warrant at his residence, said Sgt. Manny Mendoza of the Barstow sheriff's station. Piles has been on the run since he evaded deputies on Oct. 9. Piles led deputies on a high-speed chase through Barstow and Hinkley, before abandoning his truck and taking off on foot into the desert. Deputies found copper wire in the back they believe Piles stole from a business on Lassen Street, Mendoza said.

Deputies had been to Piles house several times before. Around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Toll and Ward approached the house again. Francis Graceffo, 39, met deputies outside the house. She said she did not have a key and that no one was in the house. Mendoza said deputies forced entry into the house and found Piles hiding under a pile of clothes on a bed. Jessica Harris, 18, was also inside the house.

Toll and Ward arrested Piles for suspicion of grand theft and evading the deputies. Graceffo and Harris were arrested for suspicion of being an accessory to the crime. All were booked into the Barstow Jail.
